That's a Wrap! Contour/Detox Body Wrap featuring products by M'lis, mlis.com Why clients love it: "What makes this a favorite is that the results are immediate and can be long lasting," explains spa owner Stephanie Peters. "It's important that a client maintains her results and avoids regressing to bad habits. But even if she does, she knows where to come to get back on track!" Spa: Eden Day Spa & Wellness Center, La Verne, CA (edendayspawellness.com) How it works: Delivers cleansing, healing and rebuilding benefits via key support ingredients. Niacin and soy oil increase circulation by dilating blood vessels, while cassia promotes fluid flow (including blood and lymph fluids). Protocol: • Perform a patch test 24 hours before the treatment to ensure that the client doesn't experience niacin retention. • While the client is standing, apply M'lis Buff Body Exfoliator to the exposed areas of the body and remove it by dry buffing. • Apply M'lis Contour Body Cream, and cover the treated area with plastic wrap. • Invite the client to recline on a bed for one hour to allow the wrap to take effect. • Remove plastic wrap and, if desired, measure the client's results. Detox Body Wrap With Celluli-Active Spa: Elements Spa Hilton Palm Springs, Palm Springs, CA (elementsspahilton ps.com) How it works: This wrap calls upon marine ingredients for a detoxifying experience. The body mask used contains brown seaweed and minerals from seawater; warm, bubbling marine mud promotes the elimination of toxins and helps reduce edema and fluid retention by boosting cellular exchange. This restoration of the tissue improves microcirculation for a draining effect and stimulates lymphatic flow. The 60-minute treatment includes three stages: dry brushing to prepare the skin, an active marine body mask and a full-body moisturizer application. Tui na massage techniques are also incorporated to increase relaxation and improve results, while steamed towels are placed strategically on key energy zones and areas with tight muscles. Protocol: • Perform tui na pressure and stretches to the back of the neck, shoulders, arms, hips, thighs and calves. • Place hot towels on the solar plexus and behind the neck. 40 DAYSPA | NOVEMBER 2013 • Dry brush the front and back of the body. • Mix Cellulite Active Mud Self-Heating and Natural Body Complex and apply a medium layer of the mixture to the front and back of the body. • Wrap the client in micron foil and cover with a blanket for about 20 Why clients love it: "The Phytocéane marine-based products have been a wonderful addition to our spa," says Candice Graff, spa director and massage therapist.
