[ 36 ] • # dayspamagazine • january 2018 spa showcase by Lesley McCave NEED TO KNOW Tucked into the forest on the southern shores of Payette Lake about 100 miles north of Boise, Shore Lodge plays the rustic-meets-modern vibe to perfection, its guest rooms combining fl at-screen TVs with plenty of natural wood and tree-motif carpets. The on-site Cove Spa (thecovemccall.com) continues the theme, with sculptural fi r tree logs that line the lobby and a stone hallway that leads to six treatment rooms. SIGNATURE SERVICES Massages, facials and body treatments cater to both serenity seekers and sports enthusiasts. Highlights include the Vintage McCall massage (60 min./$115; 90 min./$170), characterized by long, fl owing strokes and customized aromatherapy oils; and the Big Game deep tissue massage (60 min./$115; 90 min./$170), which soothes tired muscles with a eucalyptus, peppermint and ginger essential oil blend. The featured brand is Éminence, and spa director Nicole DeRosa reports that 2017 saw a boost in demand for the organic line. "For the coming year we'll continue to launch new products and increase our natural skincare off erings," she adds. NOTEWORTHY The Cove's indoor/outdoor saltwater immersion pools, appointed with antique copper water pumps, pay homage to the state's historic hot springs. Here, according to management, "lounging and lollygagging are the only requirements." Also intriguing: On the menu are so-called "daily excursions"—packages named after local summits and listed in order of size, from the smallest (Jughandle Mountain; 150 min./$270) to the largest (Borah Peak; 360 min./$500). u COURTESY SHORE LODGE The Cove Spa at Shore Lodge McCall, Idaho COURTESY SHORE LODGE
