[ 12 ] • # dayspamagazine • february 2018 T E A M T R A V E L S from the editor by Lesley McCave F ebruary may be the month of romance, and the 14th is a day (or night!) typically devoted to our signifi cant others, but it's also a reminder to nurture the most important people in our lives: ourselves. As the past year's dramatic world events have shown, there has never been a more crucial time to stand up for what we believe in (a high-profi le case in point: TIME'S UP, the recently launched movement against workplace sexual assault, harassment and inequality). Whether we're natural extroverts or introverts, or somewhere in between, we owe it to ourselves to become emboldened and empowered—and to achieve our goals. And we hope that this month's DAYSPA helps you help your guests do the same. Take our "Spring Sweep" feature (page 22), which spotlights four of the season's key beauty crazes. Perhaps you have a regular client who's keen to learn new techniques for nailing her signature look, or another who's seeking to break out of a makeup rut. Armed with our experts' advice, you and your staff can take the trends from the runway to real life. We also highlight companies' unique—and bold—back stories in our new column, Behind the Brand. Flip to page 56 for our fi rst installment, which showcases Ranavat Botanics, whose founder, Michelle Ranavat, was encouraged by her father to make the leap into entrepreneurship. Another way to set your business apart? Live video streaming (see "Lights, Camera, Action!" on page 58). The spa industry has been relatively slow to board this particular high-tech bandwagon, so it pays for you to get a jump on the competition and begin to capture new clients immediately. However you choose to stand out, here's to an enlightening, uplifting and decidedly beautiful February! I learned about SculpSure and other procedures at Blue Medi Spa in Sherman Oaks, California Laura attended a skin therapist appreciation brunch at the Dermalogica HQ in Carson, California Megan celebrated OPI's latest launch (featured on page 30) at Estrella in West Hollywood, California This month we celebrate the arrival of two new team members: Jasmine Coreas (assistant editor) and Amy Dodds (director, social and digital media). Welcome, ladies! M O R E O N T H E W E B Beauty Without Boundaries
