IALA was created in 2008 with a goal of helping industry stakeholders focus on legal changes affecting medspas, and successfully paved the way for patient safety-focused laws in multiple regions. Since transitioning to the AmSpa group, IALA's members have received benefi ts including access to their state's medical aesthetic legal summary, live and recorded business and legal webinars, and member pricing on AmSpa events. Call it the sleeper hit of the Big Apple: People are now paying for the chance to nap in New York. Hanson Fitness recently introduced one- hour Napercise classes—a concept inspired by owner Harry Hanson's own appreciation for power naps, as well as a similar class that premiered in the U.K. last year. After entering a room set at a cool 65 degrees—the optimal temperature for slumber, according to the National Sleep Foundation—clients lie on mats and trainers help them stretch out while relaxing music plays. Then, with lights dimmed, they snooze for 45 minutes, and the class ends with another brief stretching session. Also in New York, bedding company Casper has launched The Dreamery, which charges $25 for a nap session. The fee includes beverages, refreshing amenities like a toothbrush and toothpaste, and a private space for resting and recharging. To book a session, clients simply go online and choose a 45-minute time slot—but walk-ins are also welcome. After entering the lounge and changing into Dreamery-supplied pajamas, guests lie down in their own private Casper Nook, complete with access to special sleep audio from the meditation app Headspace and, of course, a Casper mattress and bedding. u Sleeping In COURTESY HANSON FITNESS Saian CoolDuo Massagers reduce redness and soothe the skin after waxing and extractions.
