10 @dayspamagazine • May 2019 AS I'VE OFTEN SHARED HERE THROUGH THE YEARS, I have sensitive, acne- prone skin. Being a DAYSPA editor means I typically have a regular supply of targeted products to try out, but the downside is that things can sometimes go very wrong. Case in point: a recent reaction in which a botanical oil left me with cystic blemishes and the subsequent dark spots. Luckily I was able to visit Face Haus in Studio City, California, for its World of Difference facial (55 min./$145). The esthetician dutifully tweaked the service to accommodate my concerns, and I left the appointment with glowing, visibly less irritated skin, thanks to infl ammation-fi ghting LED therapy, a super hydrating algae mask and brightening vitamin C serums; in the days that followed, my face cleared up completely! The unfortunate truth is that, thanks to my reactive complexion, breakouts happen every now and then—and I rely heavily on spa pros and treatments to keep the situation under control. So this month's feature, "In the Clear" on page 58, tackles a topic that's near and dear to my heart, as it highlights fi ve powerful protocols for banishing blemishes and giving your clients the fl awless skin they deserve. Plus, Must Have on page 18 showcases acne- fi ghting topicals that support such services, and Well Equipped on page 16 rounds out your tool kit with some of the top devices for your treatment rooms. Finally, it's no secret that professional services—particularly those that address infl ammatory issues—work best when done consistently, so fl ip to page 52 and check out "Hit Series," containing advice for getting clients to commit to ongoing treatment packages. I hope this breakout issue helps you better cater to clients with more sensitive skin concerns—for which I know they'll be eternally grateful. FROM THE EDITOR LAURA WALDON EXECUTIVE EDITOR I celebrated International Women's Day and OPI cofounder Suzi Weiss-Fischmann's book launch in Beverly Hills, California. I enjoyed a day of wellness—along with an Ayurveda service—at Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona, California. TEAM TRAVELS Learn to foster workplace wellness in Management Workshop on page 44! Jasmine visited the Hotel Bel-Air Spa in Los Angeles to learn about the new Valmont Purity collection.
