Use FreeInfo #59 112 DAYSPA | SEPTEMBER 2013 AVEDA COMES FULL CIRCLE Aveda (aveda.com) recently launched its latest effort to eliminate waste: the Full Circle recycling program. The initiative partners the eco-conscious brand with g2 revolution (g2rev.com), a recycling innovations company, and allows consumers to return Aveda packaging materials not accepted by some municipal curbside recycling programs to any of the brandÕs retail locations nationwide. The packaging is then collected, sorted and recycled into reusable material, to be used for future Aveda packaging and accessories. Articles that cannot be reused are burned for energy recovery. The program is designed to prevent Aveda packaging from going to landfill and to maximize the use of post-consumer recycled materials. According to Dave Rapaport, AvedaÕs vice president of Earth and Community Care, the brandÕs pilot program in Colorado in 2011-2012 reported that 98% of materials received were recycled into reusable material. ÒThe reality is that municipal programs vary in the types of materials they are able to recycle,Ó says Rapaport. ÒWe know this program can make a difference.Ó Noel Asmar Dresses Up Noel Asmar Uniforms (noelasmar.com) was recently enlisted to dress the new Salamander Resort & Spa, with a uniform program designed specifically for the elegant and luxurious Virginia countryside property, which opened last month. Borrowing from its Asmar Equestrian line, the fashion design teamÑled by founder Noel Asmar and senior design director Mena LucasÑcombined fresh uniform designs with equestrian elements. The uniforms include those from the brandÕs internationally known spa line, as well as outfits for concierge, bartender, housekeeper, front desk attendants and other staff positions (see page 34). ÒWe were honored to work with the Salamander team and develop a very special experience,Ó says Asmar. "The designs are truly in line with our company as we are passionate about designing uniforms that celebrate those wearing them, and we are also passionate about the equestrian lifestyle.Ó
