The annual fete's 2013 punk theme inspired guests to glamorize and channel their inner 'goth'. In turn, beauty manufacturers drew from the extreme theme and created wearable looks for the edgy consumer. "The Met Gala really blew the lid off things for me, so we decided to run with the look," says Glo-Mineral's McCarthy. "The deep wine palette, almost-black lips and shimmery metallic bronze or nude eyes are so feminine." Clients can achieve these somewhat sinister, penetrating eyes using smudged-out eye liner in black or dark purple. "We developed gel liners that allow for a thin classic line to a heavier, grunge and smoked-out statement," says Karen Bock, founder and president of Brushes by Karen. Brown and gray shadows also work well for the Fall, says Philip Luque, director of education and artistry for Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics. "The smoky browns and black lend that gloomy, dark winter feel." So break out the black eye liner and get ready to transform your clients into ghoulish goddesses! THE PRODUCTS ELSA LANCHESTER
