Chateau Spa (chateauskinspa.com), Schaumburg, Illinois "The neck is not a high priority for most clients," says Sylvia Marcinczyk, owner of Chateau Spa. "During a consultation, I generally have to explain that the skin on the neck and décolleté is different from that of the face, and so is the treatment." Marcinczyk offers her neck and décolleté treatment as an add-on for $35 or as a stand-alone treatment (60 min./$55). She begins with a skin analysis, and follows with a double-cleanse and microdermabrasion, which, she says, "creates a natural glow, reduces wrinkles and stimulates collagen production." Marcinczyk notes that clients can actually have the neck and décolleté treatment right before their event "because that's when the results are most prominent—but they really should start treatments about a month ahead for long-term effects." After treatment, she gives clients a sheet of customized guidelines with product recommendations. She also urges that it's never too late—or too early—to start caring for this area. "If you have a client in her 20s, encourage her to begin neck and décolleté care now," she says. "By the time she reaches her 40s, 50s and beyond, she will have seen tremendous benefits." Rituals Day Spa (rituals enterprise.com), Enterprise, Alabama With her spa situated about 80 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, Rituals Day Spa owner Ginger Childs treats plenty of sun damage. "The biggest problems I see are loss of elasticity, dehydration and discoloration," Childs reports. "And that 'V area' below the neck is where I notice the most damage." Childs understands firsthand the dark side of solar damage. "Because of all the sun exposure in my younger years, I ended up with skin cancer and had Mohs surgery [an arduous procedure that systematically takes off layers of skin until all cancer is removed] four years ago." Childs uses that experience to convey the importance of skin care to her clients. "All I have to do is show them my scar!"
