MINI BUT MIGHTY IN A PERFECT WORLD, everyone's schedule would allow for reasonable doses of work, medical appointments, family time, Pilates and PTA meetings. Your clients would relish the generous pressure-point massage you incorporate into every facial service, and they'd certainly never give the importance of a regular skincare regimen short shrift. It's fun to fantasize. But the sad truth is, we live in a time-strapped society, and your average spa client is much more preoccupied with multi-tasking than she is with moisturizing. To serve this harried guest, day spas must include abbreviated versions of their skincare treatments, ones that are thorough enough to provide results, yet innovative enough to differentiate themselves from garden-variety mini-facials. Even beyond pleasing overscheduled A-types, short-form facials provide bonus benefits: they bundle beautifully in service packages and give facial-curious clients a low-commitment means of testing the waters. Think of them as a mini-but-mighty way to show off your staff's esthetic prowess. To offer some inspiration as you "commence to condense," DAYSPA scrutinized spa menus across the country and unearthed six distinct facial services that clock in at 30 minutes or less. 26 DAYSPA | DECEMBER 2013 TOP: © KYOSHINO/GETTY; BOTTOM: ©ISTOCKPHOTO.COM By Katie O'Reilly
