SPOTLIGHT ON... the skin on the face, neck and bust should all match and be consistent. It doesn't make sense to have a healthy, youthful-looking complexion but have a neck/bust area that's in poor shape. How do you introduce/inform clients about your neck/décolleté treatments? Simons: At the spa, neck treatments should naturally be an extension of the facial. Our clients appreciate our efforts to introduce these treatments during the facial, as many aren't aware they're available. In our Youth Recovery Program prescription we always include a neck care product, and it's also a key talking point during consultations. Pekar: In-spa education is very important in promoting our neck and bust services. I often show clients before-and-after images when discussing these targeted treatments, so they can see the results for themselves. Peredo: Consultations are the best time to discuss and market neck/décolleté services. I like to address the issues specific to the area and map out a treatment plan with clients. That way they don't feel overwhelmed with information. What type of home care do you recommend? Simons: This is the advice I offer clients for protecting the neck and bust area: Avoid direct sun exposure and apply SPF to the area year-round; avoid spraying the neck or décolleté with fragrance as it can cause dehydration and pigmentation; refrain from taking hot baths or showers; and wear a well-fitted cotton bra without wires. In terms of skincare products, apply a firming bust cream across the décolleté, the side of the neck and behind the ears, and finally sweep under the bust itself. Peredo: I always advise clients not to limit their daily skincare regimen to their facial complexion. Whatever you put on your face, you should also put on your neck and bust areas. Also, there are three key ingredients that should be part of this daily routine: sunscreen, vitamin A and antioxidants. Simplicity is the rule of thumb, and if you have these components, you're covered. Going For the Jugular (continued) G.M.
