O TWO OF HEARTS DUBUNNƒ SPA CLUB & MASSAGE CENTRE (dubunne.com) Torrance, California THE SERVICE: Island Bliss for Two (105 min./$300) The scene for this package is set either in the spa's indoor couples' suite or in its outdoor "secret garden for two"—the couple chooses the site—and begins with a tropical-scented bubble bath for two. Steps away are the side-by-side treatment tables, where the pair enjoys a 75-minute mango massage that includes a coconutsugar back scrub. S SETTING THE MOOD: DuBunné has been in its current location for 38 years and has gradually fo expanded to occupy close to 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. The spa has perfected the romantic experience. It begins in the locker rooms, where couples can take advantage of the spa's showers, steam, sauna and the complimentary scrub bar, and enjoy the spa's signature cocktail of cranberry juice and Champagne. Pre- or post-treatment, there's a tantalizing choice of relaxation areas: outdoor patio, co-ed sauna or indoor serenity room (with a large-screen TV projecting images of beautiful island beaches). WHY IT'S SWOON-WORTHY: Priced to make it accessible to many couples—the $300 price tag is $70 below full value for the treatments included—Island Bliss has become one of DuBunné's signature offerings. "This is our most popular couples' package," says owner Mickey Schneider. "It makes couples feel like they've been on a mini-vacation." MIRBEAU INN & SPA (mirbeau.com) Skaneateles, New York THE SERVICE: Monet's Favorite Fragrance for Two (50 min./$215 or 100 min./$425) The treatment is designed to encapsulate Mirbeau's "French country" ambience and the 10 acres of Monet-inspired gardens that surround the upstate New York inn. The couple starts by choosing from a selection of aromatherapy oil blends created by Spa Mirbeau's aromatherapist with essential oils derived from local herbs and flowers. Two massage therapists then engage them in a couple's Swedish massage lasting 50 or 100 minutes. S SETTING THE MOOD: The property's elegant, Monet-inspired design extends to the spa's treatment rooms, which also boast th a fireplace and table warmers to ensure the guests don't feel chilly. "From the French-countryside style and décor, to lush gardens and a footbridge modeled after the one in Monet's famous Water Lilies paintings, to the interior of the treatment rooms, guests truly feel like they've escaped their daily routines and have been magically transported to Giverny [the commune in Normandy, where the artist lived]," says Catherine Sinclair, resort manager. 56 DAYSPA | JANUARY 2014 WHY IT'S SWOON-WORTHY: According to Phil Kolodzie, lead spa therapist, "Couples love this treatment as it tends to their physical, mental and emotional well-being with the healing benefits of natural essential oils and the soothing benefits of Swedish massage. It allows them to spend quality time together side by side in a relaxing, romantic setting. In fact, by selecting oils together at the start of the service, they're already connecting before the treatment even gets underway!"
