96 DAYSPA | AUGUST 2014 IN THE NEWS The Green Spa Network (GSN), a not-for-profit dedicated to environmental, social and economic sustainability for spas, has chosen industry veteran Paul Schmidt as its new executive director. Schmidt's professional experience spans nearly 30 years and includes stints as a spa director and manager of the development of wellness centers, as well as service on several boards, including the International Spa Association (ISPA). His passion for health, healing and spas is firmly rooted in a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. "For me, not only are mind, body, spirit, society and ecology fundamentally connected, but I have always felt compelled to live in harmony with them and be a guide for others to do the same," he explains. Stemulation recently announced the appointment of skincare veteran Ashlee Anderson as vice president of sales and training. With a career that covers more than two decades in advanced aesthetics training, Anderson has previously held executive training and education positions with industry stalwarts Sonya Dakar and Dermalogica. "Working with Stemulation is the greatest opportunity of my career," enthuses Anderson. I'm bringing my decades-long experience, passion, love of our industry and knowledge to this brand because I believe in its concept and integrity. I'm looking forward to this next remarkable part of my journey." Sally Beauty has named Ashley Sheetz chief marketing officer and group vice president. In this newly created position Sheetz will oversee brand, creative, CRM, and digital and visual merchandising teams, and will report to president and chief operating officer of Sally Beauty Holdings, Chris Brickman. Sheetz began her career in advertising and was also CMO and vice president for GameStop. In addition, she has been recognized for numerous industry achievements, and was recently named among the Top 50 Women in Brand Marketing by Brand Innovators. Tecniche has welcomed experienced esthetician and massage therapist Beata Goodman as its Chicago brand advocate. Goodman's current career focus is on providing on-site education to spas and med spas in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, while acting as a continuing education sponsor for the State of Illinois. Her specialties include dermaplaning, laser and phototherapy, and oncology. Previously, she was an instructor for the International Dermal Institute, Murad Skin Research and the American Red Cross. Goodman says it was the fact that she has ultra-sensitive skin that drew her to the brand, noting, "Tecniche is a smart, paraben-free skincare line. Every skincare professional should have two or three Tecniche products in her backbar treatment, since we all encounter clients with sensitive skin."
