[ 10 ] • DAYSPA • october 2016 from the editor by Lesley McCave In With the New P.S. Don't forget to have your say in the DAYSPA 2017 Professionals Choice Awards! Visit to cast your vote, and look out for the results in our March issue! QUICK NOTE: We'd love to hear your feedback on our overhaul—email me at with your comments! s I write this, the back to school commercials are on TV—and, in Los Angeles, at least, the kids are already fully immersed in the new academic year. So it seems an apt time to be discussing DAYSPA's fresh face. Hot on the heels of our celebratory 20th anniversary issue, we're bringing you a nipped, tucked version of our former selves. We based our changes in part on the results of our recent readers' survey, in which you laid bare your wishes and wants. We asked, you answered—and then we got down to work. As a spa owner striving to stay ahead of the game, that's exactly what you must do too. In today's increasingly competitive market, one in which clients can take their business elsewhere at the drop of a hat (or the download of a coupon), you have to work hard to earn and maintain their loyalty. Becoming stale or irrelevant—or, worse, not listening to what they want—can signal the death knell for your spa. So, in the spirit of innovating while remaining true to our core values, we've tweaked here, streamlined there, and are thrilled to unveil a host of brand new—and jazzed up— pages. Among the key changes, you'll see the following: * New regular columns, including In Focus, highlighting a skincare ingredient du jour (page 18), and Back to Basics, drilled-down business advice (page 72) * Amped-up spa coverage, from Spa Showcase (page 24) to Spa Snapshot (page 36) * A refreshed Building Blocks (page 68) and One on One (page 96) * The return of Winning Ways, which this month details a pampering spa day for two youngsters battling cancer (page 78) Fear not: Much-loved sections—from Raves & Faves to Taste—are still present, albeit in spiff ed up versions! Plus, it's also that time of year when we get to lay out some stellar seasonal swag, aka our annual holiday gift guide. For an extended version, go to our revamped website, where you'll also fi nd this month's Breast Cancer Awareness web exclusive. Here's to change!
