[ 66 ] • DAYSPA • may 2017 spa showcase by Rachel Kossman NEED TO KNOW The most recent locale in a chain of 10 California day spas, this latest addition to the Burke Williams (burkewilliamsspa.com) portfolio opened in September 2016 on the border of Hollywood and West Hollywood. To ensure every guest feels catered to, general manager Carl J. Ford crafted the spa's menu to encompass an array of intriguing off erings: specialty massages including as craniosacral and lymph drainage, facials and body treatments, a custom blend aromatherapy bar, hair services at the in-house blow dry bar, manicures and pedicures. NOTEWORTHY The interior is designed to refl ect the area's storied zip code, and guests feel like they've entered a retro, 1920s escape once they make their way inside. The 1,575-square-foot space dazzles with sparkling crystal beaded curtains, classic rose wallpaper, black and white hexagon fl oor tiles and plush circular benches topped with peacock feathers, among other glamorous details. Its most distinctive feature, however, is the Conservatory. "This is our co-ed lounge where customers can indulge in a mini- service before or after their treatments— off ering them the perfect way to begin or end their spa day," says Ford. SIGNATURE SERVICES In a drought-parched state like California, the spa's management is particularly conscious of water usage; hence the spa's signature Steam Pedicures (45 min./$50). "These innovative pedicures are a luxurious way to pamper clients—we like to think of them as facials for the feet!" says Ford. "But they're also incredibly eco-friendly, as they use a fraction of the water required for traditional pedicures." u COURTESY BURKE WILLIAMS/ZACK BENSON Burke Williams Hollywood Los Angeles
