I recently attended the (fun-packed!) IECSC show in Sin City, where temperatures reached an obscene 115 degrees. There I was, slathered head to toe in SPF 50, sporting a hat and toting an umbrella as I scurried between patches of shade on the few occasions I had to step outside the Convention Center. Some people—although few in the spa industry, I'll wager—might consider my behavior extreme. But the fact of the matter is, regardless of where we live or where travel to, it's our duty to take care of our skin. Each of us only has one face and one body—and there's no return policy on either. As a spa owner, it's your duty to help clients protect their skin, regardless of its condition or age. Taking that sentiment to heart, the features in this issue are dedicated to facial treatment protocols for common skin disorders ("Therapy Sessions," page 48) and the latest industry buzzwords making news ("Headlining Acts," page 24). With the mercury in the San Fernando Valley also rising, here in the offi ce we gladly tested all types of cooling, cleansing milks and waters when compiling this month's Raves & Faves (page 14). And speaking of "refreshers," Menu Musings (page 62) discusses how— and when—to revamp your service menu, while Back to Basics (page 58) rounds up seven essential social media strategies. Looking for ingredient inspiration? In Focus (page 16) zeroes in on resveratrol, that powerhouse ingredient associated with red wine that also boasts multiple skincare benefi ts. Cheers to that! P.S. Just prior to my Vegas hop I was on a press trip to the Éminence Organic Farm in Hungary. Turn the page for a recap! Lizzy celebrated Global Wellness Day—including rooftop yoga with Andrew Sealy and Rachele Brooke Smith—at the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. Laura attended the Premiere Orlando beauty event in Florida, where hair, skin and nail pros and brands came together from all corners to win prestigious competitions, learn new techniques and—some might say best of all—try and buy products for their businesses. In addition to a host of educational courses (including one taught by Alexis Ufl and, principal of Lexi Design), demonstrations, contests and fashion shows, Laura got to visit with some of our #DAYSPAfaves, including Gena, Cirépil, DermAware, Éminence, SAIAN, Pevonia, FarmHouse Fresh and Satin Smooth, to name a few. She even managed to help out our sister magazine Nailpro by participating as a hand model in a Gelish Polygel Facebook Live demo! Needless to say, she now has all the inside information on upcoming products and trends!
