For the "Mayo Clinic Healthy Living at MO," the luxury hotel group's Washington, D.C., location teamed up with the renowned Mayo Clinic to produce a three-event program offering guidance on wellness at home and on the road. It premiered on June 24 with "Get Active," featuring Mayo Clinic physician Warren G. Thompson, MD. The other events will take place on September 16 ("Resilient You" with Matthew M. Clark, PhD, LP) and November 18 ("Eat Well, Live Well" with Donald D. Hensrude, MD, MPH). In addition to these lectures, events will include small group activities, personalized wellness plans, cuisine designed to complement the program, and overnight accommodations. Guests also have the option of enhancing their experiences with holistic therapy treatments tailored to accompany their individual health assessments at the hotel's spa. "We're delighted to bring the leader in medical research, care and education to Washington, D.C., as part of our ongoing commitment to guest well-being," says Adriaan Radder, general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. "This program offers the opportunity to fi ne-tune health and wellness habits with one-on-one expert guidance." The Spas at Mandarin Oriental have also united with the nonprofi t Green Spa Network (GSN) to create a Group Sustainability Assessment. This new effort adapts GSN's Sustainability Assessment Tool—a resource for developing more effective greening efforts—so that it can be used at multiple hotel properties on a global scale. "The insights that will be revealed will help us fulfi ll our goal to act responsibly for a sustainable future, and bring a special focus to the contribution from our spa division," says Jeremy McCarthy, Mandarin Oriental's group director of spa. "We're delighted to embrace this initiative, to ensure that our group's spas are advancing sustainability in our industry and in our communities."
