SPOTLIGHT ON... Red States Keep clients rosacea and inammation in check with help from pros top tricks and tools. DAYSPA: What are the best ways to treat rosacea-prone skin in the spa? Robin Deresh, co-owner, Suite 406 Studio, Raleigh, NC: We use gentle acid masks, as abrasive exfoliation will exacerbate the problem. Topical products rich in azaleic acid and vitamin K are really helpful, too. We also refer many clients to allergists to determine the foods that may be triggering their inammation. Bozena Linowski, lead esthetician, European Day Spa, Bayonne, NJ: We customize every facial for sensitive-skinned clients, but about 20 minutes of red LED light can be very helpful. We also use a thermal, algae-based mask that cools and soothes while gently hydrating and feeding the skin nutrients. Underneath that, we apply skin-rebuilding tonics. The goal is to strengthen sensitive capillaries without irritating the skin. Marc Edward, owner, Marc Edward Skincare, West Hollywood, CA: An appropriate treatment is one that wont iname the skin. I usually advise these clients to schedule bimonthly, rather than monthly, facials to keep their skin as calm as possible. Oxygen facials are great. So are ultrasound and red LED treatments. What do you recommend in terms of home care? Deresh: These clients need to keep their skincare regimens basic. We recommend gentle, sulfate- and paraben-free cleansers, a vitamin K-based mask to be used twice a week and a very light, hyaluronic acid-based moisturizer. Out of the Red G.M.
