boucte A Fa AVEDA When it comes to makeup, spring complexions serve as the perfect canvas to highlight über-feminine hues, and experts confirm that clean and bright skin is non-negotiable. "It's all about fresh, flawless nude skin this season" says Karen Bock, owner of Brushes by Karen, who touts the brand's Pure Cover Concealer as a must-have for the Spring. "Avoid heavy, cakey makeup or powders. Keep it soft and fresh for that 'girl next door' look." Kevin Mendelson, global educator for Jane Iredale, opts for the brand's Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream when clients are looking for sufficient coverage and smooth velvety skin, which he believes is the perfect complement to a runway-worthy beauty look. "Most women have far more in common with the skin of runway models than they realize: dark under-eye circles, occasional acne and stressed-out skin that's dehydrated from full schedules and sporadically y poor nutrition," says Mendelson. To punctuate the natural trend, a rosy cheek proves the perfect complement to a fresh face. "Cheeks are lightly contoured or flushed d with pinks and corals this season," says Aveda's Geason. "It's all about ut pretty and romantic makeup." A dewy cheek is also ideal—as long as you don't overdo it, warns Jenny Jordan, chief operations officer for Mineralogie, who notes that the brand's new blush shades in Scene Stealer and Arm Candy lend an ethereal "sheen, not shimmer." Every skincare professional knows that the key to a clean complexion is consistent maintenance, and that includes helping clients' skin remain fresh and hydrated throughout the day. To that end, Philip Luque, director of education and artistry, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, recommends the brand's Minerals in the Mist, a facial spray that features soothing lavender. "You can use it after makeup application to set foundation," says Luque. "Its pure essential oils protect and hydrate the skin and keep it looking fresh. The key is maintaining a dewy look. I don't think matte makeup will ever come back."
