"We'll see clear simple hues— milky pastels with a touch of warmth," Pink explains. To capture this peaceful balance, the company's new Meditate line features a "palette of light-infused, filtered colors that complement clean and pure textures, encouraging us to slow pace and take time to appreciate life." Spring florals and pastels may have been the driving inspirations for some, but for OPI's executive vice president and artistic director, Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, ultra-chic European fashionistas served as the muses in creating the company's Euro Centrale Collection. "I draw much of my inspiration from my travels and I always notice how European women embrace beauty," Weiss-Fischmann says. "I had to show how beautiful these women are, and I chose this collection to do that." Some of the color guru's favorites include the purplish-blue Eurso Euro, lilac You're Such a Budapest and the fiery coral My Paprika is Hotter Than Yours. "The collection makes clients feel good and, at the end of the day, it's fun," she says. In addition to unstoppable color, Weiss-Fischmann says, this season will introduce textured nail polishes and a matte topcoat finish. "Although I think magnetic polish is trending down, nail apps are going to continue to push boundaries," she explains. "Technologies, glitters, shimmers, topcoats— they all allow consumers to be creative and empower themselves. They can really have it all." On trend with the "balancing act" theme, think classic concepts with an edge. "The French manicure will be featured prominently but with variations in color and edge design," says CND global marketing and product director Caroline Anderson. "The moon manicure will also evolve with new shapes and color combinations for strong, graphic looks. Gold and silver will create soft ombre effects and micro glitter will elevate the nail to jewel status." Like makeup, careful consideration must be taken before recommending the latest and greatest hue to clients. "There are so many seasonal trends that seem spectacular, but Dermelect Lust Struck SpaRitual Calm and Clear Zoya Professional Lacquer Neely CND Orly Nail Lacquer Peaceful Opposition translate terribly on the hand," says Zoya's Isa. "You have to have that array of options so there is something for everyone." If it seems like the nail industry is an artistic free-for-all, you would be correct. With online platforms such as Pinterest and Instagram changing the way consumers share information and express their individual styles, it seems there's a new nail trend every day—and it's not slowing down any time soon. "Whatever style you are will come into play," says Elle, color curator for Dermelect. "Nothing is wrong nowadays." Cuccio Colour Meet Me In Mykonos Angela Melero is DAYSPA's assistant editor.
