So, put aside the wintery neutrals and make way for the smorgasbord of options for top-notch spring manicures. "Last year you saw a lot of gray undertones and there was a bit of a heavier feel to it, which I believe had a lot to do with the difficult economy and what was going on in the world," says Rebecca Isa, color expert for Zoya. "This season is much more lighthearted and upbeat. People want to feel better and the trends are reflecting that." With the consumer sentiment shifting to lighter and brighter days, it's only natural that this season's colors follow suit. "Green made a strong impact last spring and will make an even bigger one this upcoming season," says Alesia Lanzo, director of color and trends for Gelish, a Hand & Nail Harmony company. "Since green has so many beautiful undertones, it can look good on pretty much everyone." The company's new Love in Bloom collection draws inspiration from these undertones and includes "gorgeous teals and blues that add a pop of color to the black and white fashion that was a huge influence on the runway," she adds. Pale pastels, glitters and vibrant crèmes are the go-to hues in Orly International's Hope and Freedom Fest collection. "I love the transition in fashion at this time," says educational manager Catherine Baek. "The shades in this collection depict the transition from winter to spring very well." The confectionary collection includes Coachella Dweller—a mix of pastel and neon green—and Peaceful Opposition, a whimsical pastel glitter.
